The All-In-One Greens Myth
Gruns vs. AG1 vs. NuStrips:
Why one morning scoop can’t fix a whole day.
You’re wired at 11pm and wrecked by 3pm. Stress sits on your chest, your sleep runs short, and every low-grade bug in the building finds you. Those aren’t one problem — they’re four, and they don’t clock in at the same time. So why does the whole greens aisle keep selling you one answer, taken once, at 9am?
Modern life doesn’t hit you all at once
The anxiety that tightens at your desk. The afternoon fatigue that flattens your 3pm. The sleep you keep losing at 11pm. The run-down immunity after a red-eye, a vaccine, or a cold that just won’t fully let go. These are different problems that show up at different hours — and each one wants a different active to help support it.†
A single powder you drink at 9am does nothing for the sleep you’re losing at 11pm. That’s not a knock on greens. It’s just physics of timing: a morning dose is gone by the time you actually need help.
And it ignores the one thing that underwrites all of it. Sleep is the bedrock — of mind and body, and a cornerstone of healthy aging. Every road to better living, sharper days, and mental peace runs through better sleep first. A greens scoop can’t touch the night, which means it can’t touch the foundation the rest of your health is built on.
The all-in-one fantasy: one scoop, one time, one format
Several brands built empires on the same promise — that a single serving in the morning covers your entire day. Here’s their model, stated fairly:
- AG1 (formerly Athletic Greens). One powder, marketed around ~75 vitamins, minerals, and whole-food-sourced nutrients in a single AM scoop you mix in a shaker. Sold mainly by subscription at roughly $79/month (about $99 one-time). A serious daily greens-and-multi — taken once, in the morning.
- Grüns. A daily greens gummy pack — the brand cites 60+ ingredients and 20+ vitamins & minerals in a handful of gummies, around $79.99 for a 28-day pouch (roughly $40–80/month depending on subscription). Tasty, convenient — and, again, one format, taken once.
- IM8. A newer all-in-one greens-and-wellness powder (a level tablespoon mixed into water), marketed around ~92 ingredients — roughly $79/month on subscription (about $112 one-time). Same playbook as AG1: one scoop, in the morning.
None of that is the problem. These are legitimate daily greens products, and if a morning greens habit is all you want, any of them can do that job. The problem is the pitch: that one scoop or one pack, at one time of day, in one format, handles sleep and energy and daily nutrition and hair. It can’t — because those need different actives at different hours.
A greens powder you drink at 9am does nothing for the sleep you’re losing at 11pm.
Consider what a morning greens serving structurally doesn’t carry: no melatonin for the night you’re trying to fall asleep, no timed caffeine-plus-L-theanine for a clean morning lift without the crash. A greens blend is a nutrition play. It was never built to be your nightcap and your alarm clock and your immune backstop all at once.
Escape the wellness circus
NuStrips exists for a simple reason. The Egyptians rolled the first pill around 1600 BC — with honey, dough, and a prayer — and every pill, powder, and gummy since has made the same bet: send it down the long road through your gut and hope enough survives the trip. Meanwhile modern life got engineered against you: feeds built to take your attention, schedules built to take your sleep, and a wellness industry happy to sell it all back, one gummy at a time. That’s why the pouches get bigger, the doses get louder, and the powders keep coming.
NuStrips walked through a different door. Exact doses, on your tongue, working in about 30 seconds — no shaker, no 9am chore. And instead of one dose pretending to be everything, a routine that matches the problem to the time of day.
The NuStrips answer: right active, right time
The routine begins where health itself begins — at night. Fix the night first, and everything else compounds off a rested body and a settled mind.
Sleep — the foundation
This is where the routine starts, because sleep is the bedrock of mind and body and a cornerstone of healthy aging — every road to better living and mental peace runs through it. Melatonin, L-theanine, and valerian help you wind down and support restful sleep, taken right when you need it — not 14 hours early. Fix the night, and the rest of your day compounds off it.†
Energy
More than a clean lift. Caffeine paired with L-theanine and B12 to help support focused energy that’s gentle on your gut (no stomach upset the way harsh stimulants can cause), keeps you calm and steady rather than jittery or anxious, and helps sustain the focus and output that actually move your work forward — without the crash.†
Essentials
A first-of-its-kind mind & body vitamin — daily foundational support for mind, body, and immune health.† This is the everyday base layer a greens powder only pretends to be: the real answer to what AG1, Grüns, and IM8 promise, minus the shaker.
Beauty
Biotin, folate, and vitamin E to help support hair, skin, and nails — a targeted add, not a hope baked into a morning blend.†
Each one dissolves on your tongue in about 30 seconds. That’s the whole point: you don’t stack your whole day onto one 9am moment. You meet each need when it shows up.
